Dragonkind Signets: What We Know About the Signet Phase

If you have bonded a dragon in the Threshing Day game, you have probably noticed the signet countdown on the official site. The signet phase — the moment your rider’s power manifests through the bond — is the next stage of the Dragonkind campaign, and it has not opened yet. Here is everything we know: what signets are, what the books tell us to expect, and what to do while the countdown runs.

Current status: not open yet

The signet phase has no announced unlock date. The official game teases it with a countdown, which is the same rollout pattern the team used when Dragonkind itself launched on October 1, 2026 — first the book, then the Threshing, now the powers. When the phase opens, bonded riders will presumably receive a signet through the same email login they used for the Threshing, which is one more reason to hold on to that inbox. We keep the live state on the Dragonkind status page — bookmark it and check back.

What a signet is

In the Empyrean series, a signet is the power a rider develops once their dragon channels magic through their bond. Signets are personal — they reflect the rider, not the dragon — and they range from devastating to subtle. Violet’s lightning can level a battlefield; Liam’s farsight quietly keeps his friends alive. Most riders manifest one signet; a rare few, Violet included, develop more than one. Signets usually reveal themselves after the bond is fully formed, which is exactly why the game is sequencing the signet phase after the Threshing instead of launching both at once.

The signets of the books

Spoiler-light list of the powers the series has shown so far — these give the best hint of what kind of results the signet phase might hand out:

RiderSignetWhat it does
Violet SorrengailLightning wieldingThe most destructive signet of her generation — she channels storms in battle.
Xaden RiorsonShadow wieldingHe summons and commands shadows, a rare and unsettling power.
Liam MairiFarsightThe ability to see over great distances.
Ridoc GamlynIce wieldingHe freezes what he touches.
Brennan SorrengailMendingThe rare ability to heal wounds that should be fatal.

Notice the range: destructive, tactical, and quietly powerful signets all exist in canon. Whatever the game assigns, expect the result to say something about the rider — the books are explicit that the signet comes from who you are, not what you want.

Beware unofficial signet quizzes

With the phase not yet open, lookalike sites and quizzes claiming to “assign your official signet” are already circulating. Fans have confirmed these are not part of Rebecca Yarros’ official game — the real signet reveal comes only through dragonkind.com with your email login. The same rule of thumb covers every fake: if a site asks for your email again, promises a specific dragon, or grants a signet today, it is not the official campaign. This guide is a fan site too, and it will never ask for your login or pretend to grant results.

What the signet phase will probably look like

This part is informed expectation, not confirmed mechanics. Based on how the Threshing rolled out, the signet phase will most likely arrive as an update to the same game: a countdown hits zero, bonded riders sign in with the same email, and the reveal plays out in the Vale — possibly framed as a moment with your dragon rather than a quiz. Your existing result (dragon, wing, section, squad) is expected to carry over automatically. None of this is announced yet; when it is, the status page changes first and this page gets the full breakdown within a day.
